Study abroad checklist: Prepare Documents

Before you apply, find out which documents you will need. Having up to date documentation is essential for getting an offer and mistakes can be serious. A compelling personal statement can make a huge difference, especially when applying to universities in demand.

Normal documents

All universities will ask for three things:

  • Your academic transcript
  • Proof of language skills
  • Proof of identity

It is also common for universities to ask for a personal statement. This is a great opportunity for you to explain why you are interested in studying at their university and has been known to significantly affect your chance of getting an offer.

Course-specific Documents

When applying to certain courses, like art or architecture, universities like to see evidence of your skills by means of a resume or portfolio. They will explain the specific requirements on the course's website.
